The straight-faced, funny man of Duck Dynasty has a real story to tell. Not a repeat of the previous Robertson family books, Jase surprises fans who love him for his dry humor and brotherly rivalry, as he opens up about his personal family life, his childhood days with a drunken father, and how he came to faith. The closer we look at the Robertson family, the more we discover the substance and authenticity below the surface of these well-known TV characters. In this enlightening book, Jase Robertson gives us a deep look behind his funnyman exterior. In addition to stories of life in the Robertson family and epic tales of hunting of all kinds, readers will get an inside look at Jase’s personal faith in the Creator of the outdoors he so dearly loves: “My first thoughts about God came in a duck blind as I gazed upon the diversity and beauty of creation. There is nothing in nature that can be reproduced or equaled by humans. None of our computers, microchips, or cell phones can duplicate what God has put forth. Viewing the details of this magnificent earth is better than any sermon from any preacher I have heard about the evidence of God.” More than a behind-the-scenes look at this beloved Duck Dynasty character, readers will be inspired and encouraged to implement Jase’s “good call” reflections on faith, family, and fowl into their own lives.

The author and problem-solver Barbara Davis presents well-researched, logical, workable, plausible, and probable solutions to the question of whether nature created itself or was created by God. Influenced by the distinct difference between a material world where all things die and the existence of a Creator, we prefer to prove the existence of God. Miracles disprove a material world because miracles disprove the physical laws of nature. To account for our world it must be a VIRTUAL REALITY made to represent a material world. Working with His imagination, God constructs the images of all matter at a location including any sensory and motion information occupying space, which is a non-material background along a stream of sequential present moments, during which one experiences with awareness Life. In another manner, God is able to share any experience with others. With matchless perseverance, Davis finds the many missing facts which God would require to create a civilization. The loving relationships between God and others and between the others motivate God to produce as a work of art the Book of Life. It is becoming a whale of a success. Plan for Heaven. Grow in self-respect, respect for others and respect for our awesome God.

There has been a deluge of material on biodiversity, starting from a trickle back in the mid-1980's. However, this book is entirely unique in its treatment of the topic. It is unique in its meticulously crafted, scientifically informed, philosophical examination of the norms and values that are at the heart of discussions about biodiversity. And it is unique in its point of view, which is the first to comprehensively challenge prevailing views about biodiversity and its value. According to those dominant views, biodiversity is an extremely good thing – so good that it has become the emblem of natural value. The book's broader purpose is to use biodiversity as a lens through which to view the nature of natural value. It first examines, on their own terms, the arguments for why biodiversity is supposed to be a good thing. This discussion cuts a very broad and detailed swath through the scientific, economic, and environmental literature. It finds all these arguments to be seriously wanting. Worse, these arguments appear to have consequences that should dismay and perplex most environmentalists. The book then turns to a deeper analysis of these failures and suggests that they result from posing value questions from within a framework that is inappropriate for nature's value. It concludes with a novel suggestion for framing natural value. This new proposal avoids the pitfalls of the ones that prevail in the promotion of biodiversity. And it exposes the goals of conservation biology, restoration biology, and the world's largest conservation organizations as badly ill-conceived.

A 2013 Christianity Today Book Award winner Imagine the scenarios: a CEO successfully negotiates a corporate merger, avoiding hundreds of layoffs in the process an artist completes a mosaic for public display at a bank, showcasing neighborhood heroes a contractor creates a work-release program in cooperation with a local prison, growing the business and seeing countless former inmates turn their lives around a high-school principal graduates 20 percent more students than the previous year, and the school's average scores go up by a similar percentage Now imagine a parade in the streets for each event. That's the vision of Proverbs 11:10, in which the tsaddiqim--the people who see everything they have as gifts from God to be stewarded for his purposes--pursue their vocation with an eye to the greater good. Amy Sherman, director of the Center on Faith in Communities and scholar of vocational stewardship, uses the tsaddiqim as a springboard to explore how, through our faith-formed calling, we announce the kingdom of God to our everyday world. But cultural trends toward privatism and materialism threaten to dis-integrate our faith and our work. And the church, in ways large and small, has itself capitulated to those trends, while simultaneously elevating the "special calling" of professional ministry and neglecting the vocational formation of laypeople. In the process, we have, in ways large and small, subverted our kingdom mandate. God is on the move, and he calls each of us, from our various halls of power and privilege, to follow him. Here is your chance, keeping this kingdom calling in view, to steward your faith and work toward righteousness. In so doing, you will bless the world, and as you flourish, the world will celebrate.

William Fennimore is bored and depressed. He is a short man trapped in a tall world. While at a bus stop, waiting for his ride, he notices a perfectly written, copperplate script ad on the wall of the bus stop. It is surrounded by illiterate graffiti and stupid advertisements. On a whim, he calls the number, makes an appointment and meets a beautiful girl who is taller, but then not. Miss Annie Brown, in a peculiar accent, says she works for a company called "For a Good Time Call." Instead of enjoying her bed, he is transported to their offices 9 million miles beyond Pluto and discovers that they are a Galactic Employment Agency. The agency finds people of different races who can bring new view points to problems that have resisted all attempts to solve. While waiting for assignment, William spends time with Miss Annie Brown. They fall in love. He receives his assignment and they are sent down to a planet that has been at war for 11 years. She is sent to one of the opposing sides by "accident" and William to the other. He can only think of finding her. His many adventures crossing a vast, island-filled ocean to the other continent slowly bring him to the point where his 5 and 3/4" height is unimportant, and he does realize that he is having a good time. And so he should, "For a Good Time Call" guaranteed it contractually. William does finally solve the problem of the war and find his Miss Annie Brown.

Thirty-seven-year-old Nate Albano's second relationship ever ended three years ago, and since he's grace--gray asexual--he doesn't anticipate beating the odds to find a third. Still, he's got his dog, his hobbies, and his job as a special effects technician on Wolf's Landing, so he can't complain--much. Seth Larson, umpteenth generation Bluewater Bay, is the quintessential good-time guy, content with tending bar and being his grandmother's handyman. The night they meet, Seth's looking for some recreational sex to escape family drama. But for Nate, romantic attraction comes before sexual attraction, so while Seth thinks they're hooking up, Nate just wants to talk . . . genealogy? Dude. Seriously? So they declare a "just friends" truce. Then Seth asks for Nate's help investigating a sinister Larson family secret, and their feelings start edging way beyond platonic. But Nate may want more than Seth can give him, and Seth may not be able to leave his good-time image behind. Unless they can find a way to merge carefree with commitment, they could miss out on true love--the best time of all.
